Asllani leaves Hoffenheim - RB Leipzig in pole position
Hoffenheim will have to say goodbye to Fisnik Asllani. The 23-year-old striker is on the verge of a move to RB Leipzig, according to 'kicker'. With a release clause of 30 million euros, the Bundesliga club can bypass negotiations with Hoffenheim. Asllani, who scored 10 goals and provided 9 assists in 33 games last season, is expected to join the Red Bulls this month.
Why RB Leipzig is now the favorite
Initially, Borussia Dortmund was considered the frontrunner for Asllani, but rumors about Serhou Guirassy's departure have cooled down. A move to FC Barcelona is also not currently on the table. RB Leipzig now has the best chance of signing the striker. However, the Champions League participant still needs to free up a squad spot, as Rômulo and Conrad Harder are already listed as strikers.
What does the departure mean for Hoffenheim?
Asllani's departure comes at a difficult time for Hoffenheim. After a strong season with 65 goals scored and 52 conceded (5th place, 61 points), the club faces the challenge of replacing the striker. In their last five games, Hoffenheim lost three times, including a 4:0 defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach on May 16, 2026.
When will the transfer be completed?
According to 'Bild', the transfer is imminent, but RB Leipzig still needs to free up a squad spot. If successful, Asllani could join the Red Bulls this month. For Hoffenheim, the search for a new striker begins.
