TSG Hoffenheim's second team secured a commanding 5-1 home victory over SSV Jahn Regensburg in the 3. Liga on Saturday afternoon. Under the direction of referee Fabienne Michel, coach Stefan Kleineheismann's side showed clear superiority from the 16:30 kick-off, claiming their second win of the season.
Yasin Zor put the Hoffenheim reserves ahead with his first goal in the 18th minute. Just eight minutes later, Tiago Poller doubled the lead to 2-0. Hoffenheim II controlled the game until halftime and took this comfortable advantage into the break. After the interval, Regensburg improved and Lucas Hermes scored the consolation goal in the 60th minute. But Hoffenheim's response was swift. Only two minutes later, Yasin Zor scored again to restore the two-goal cushion. Klaus Gjasula made it 4-1 in the 69th minute to seal the deal, before Blessing Makanda netted the final goal for 5-1 in the 83rd minute.
Stefan Kleineheismann was impressed with his team's performance. "How cool the lads played impressed me," the coach said. "We let Düsseldorf run and knew that the spaces would then open up." Kleineheismann was referring to the 2-0 away win against Fortuna Düsseldorf in the previous round. Against Regensburg, he fielded a changed starting lineup, with Spranger playing instead of Theuer.
