TSG Hoffenheim is preparing for a decisive Bundesliga clash against VfB Stuttgart, a top-four six-pointer with only three games remaining in the season. Die Kraichgauer, who have regained form after a weaker period, face a direct competitor for the coveted Champions League spots. Both teams are currently level on points with 57, with Stuttgart only ahead due to a superior goal difference.

After being a favourite for Champions League qualification for most of the season, Hoffenheim, also known as the Sinsheimers, dropped down the table following an underwhelming run since a 3-0 victory over Freiburg in mid-February. A disappointing streak of just one win in seven games during that period, including defeats to St. Pauli, RB Leipzig, and Mainz, significantly dampened their momentum and caused them to fall behind.

However, under the guidance of coach Christian Ilzer, Hoffenheim has impressively rebounded from that rut. With two consecutive 2-1 victories, first against Bundesliga runners-up candidates Borussia Dortmund and then against Hamburg, they managed to collect six crucial points. These recent successes have brought Die Kraichgauer back level with Stuttgart.

For the upcoming clash, Hoffenheim will have to do without several key players. Valentin Gendrey and Koki Machida are unavailable due to injuries. A further blow is the suspension of Grischa Prömel, who must sit out after picking up his fifth yellow card of the campaign against Hamburg. These absences present challenges for coach Ilzer in squad selection.

Despite the absences, a potential starting XI is emerging. Oliver Baumann is expected in goal, leading the defensive line. In front of him, Vladimír Coufal, Ozan Kabak, Albian Hajdari, and Bernardo could form the back four. The exact lineup in midfield and attack will be crucial to contain Stuttgart's offense and create chances themselves.
