Hoffenheim holds onto Fisnik Asllani: The transfer to RB Leipzig falls through due to medical concerns. Hoffenheim remains in the Bundesliga. The transfer of Fisnik Asllani from TSG Hoffenheim to RB Leipzig has fallen through at the last minute. The club announced this on Friday evening in an official statement. It reads: "TSG Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig were in talks about a potential transfer of Fisnik Asllani. This transfer does not come to fruition due to medical concerns that RB Leipzig had filed. Asllani traveled to the RB training camp in Austria on Thursday evening to undergo a medical check. Hoffenheim had previously released the striker for this purpose. During the examination, the Saxons found the aforementioned concerns, which ultimately led Leipzig to abandon the 25 million euro transfer. The transfer fee in Asllani's contract with Hoffenheim is 25 million euros. The Kosovar international was Leipzig's absolute top target for the striker position. According to Sky, all the details for the deal had already been agreed upon, with Asllani set to sign a five-year contract with the Champions League participant until 2031. Hoffenheim's sports business manager Andreas Schicker emphasized: "That this transfer is not coming to fruition is, from a sporting perspective, anything but bad news for us. We are completely clear that Fisnik can perform physically and sportingly at the highest level." Asllani has "completed the preparation at the usual high level and will train with the team again from next week." The club stated that they assume that the striker will now remain in the Kraichgau this summer and will not join any other new club. Whether something will change again by the end of the transfer window in early September remains to be seen. In the past few months, other top clubs have also been linked with Asllani. Borussia Dortmund, for example, is said to have great interest in the 23-year-old, who will celebrate his 24th birthday on Saturday. If Neuner Serhou Guirassy leaves the BVB this summer, the Borussia may possibly try again to sign Asllani, who is also being eyed by FC Barcelona. Hoffenheim had signed Asllani from Union Berlin in 2020, but it took several years for the Kosovar to break through at TSG. A loan to the then-second-division SV Elversberg in the 2024/25 season finally brought the breakthrough, and Asllani established himself in the previous season as a regular in the Hoffenheim starting lineup in the Bundesliga. In 35 appearances across all competitions in the 2025/26 season, he scored 11 goals.
