Hoffenheim signs Austrian youth national team player Denise Lueger

TSG Hoffenheim has officially announced the signing of 17-year-old Austrian youth national team player Denise Lueger. Lueger leaves First Vienna FC Women, where she played 23 league matches and scored seven goals last season, to join the German Bundesliga.

Who is Denise Lueger?

Denise Lueger is regarded as one of Austria’s most promising offensive players. She was called up to the ÖFB youth national team during the last season and proved her goal-scoring ability with First Vienna FC Women. With the move to Hoffenheim, she takes the next step in her career and will play in one of Europe’s strongest leagues.

Impact for Hoffenheim

TSG Hoffenheim has long focused on developing young talent. By signing Lueger, the club gains a versatile offensive player who can operate as a striker or on the wings. Currently Hoffenheim sits sixth in the Bundesliga with 51 points from 29 games (15 wins, 6 draws, 8 losses) and a goal difference of +14 (57:43). With a 25-point gap to league leaders Bayern Munich, Lueger’s contribution could be decisive in bringing the team closer to the top.

Integration into the squad

Denise Lueger will be integrated into Hoffenheim’s squad in the coming weeks. The club’s next league match is on 6 February 2027 away at VfB Stuttgart, who currently sit third in the table. Until then, the young Austrian will have time to adapt to the new environment and prepare for her first Bundesliga season.
