TSG 1899 Hoffenheim suffered a 3-1 defeat away to SC Paderborn 07. It was Hoffenheim's first loss of the season and the newly-promoted side's maiden Bundesliga victory.

Bundesliga reporter Jan Wochner summarised the surprise result. The match last Sunday took a bad turn for Hoffenheim early on. Santiago Castaneda put the hosts ahead in the 29th minute. Stefano Marino doubled the advantage just before half-time. After the break, Adam Daghim pulled one back in the 50th minute for his second goal of the campaign. However, Steffen Tigges restored the two-goal cushion in the 69th minute to seal the points for Paderborn.

This defeat leaves Hoffenheim in 14th place in the table with three points from four matches. Their goal difference stands at minus three, having scored seven and conceded ten. The recent form of four losses in their last five competitive games is a major concern. The team must now regroup for their next fixture, a home match against 16th-placed Hamburger SV.
