Hoffenheim has signed World Cup participant Patrick Wimmer from Wolfsburg. The 25-year-old Austrian signs a long-term contract with the club. While Wolfsburg has been relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga, Hoffenheim has secured a Europa League spot after finishing fifth. Patrick Wimmer will strengthen Hoffenheim's attack. The Austrian was part of Teamchef Ralf Rangnick's World Cup squad. Sports director Paul Pajduch said: „Patrick is offensively versatile and has proven his qualities in the Bundesliga“. Wimmer had received numerous offers from domestic and foreign clubs, Pajduch explained. Other clubs were also interested in Wimmer, but the Austrian chose Hoffenheim. So Wimmer will play for the Kraichgauer in the future. The transfer is an important step for Hoffenheim to strengthen the team. But Wimmer himself is also happy about the move. The Austrian said: „Hoffenheim has made an impressive development in the past season, with exciting players and an intense and attractive style of football“. Wimmer knows coach Chris Ilzer from their time together at Austria Wien. The Austrian will now prepare for the new season with Hoffenheim.
